Data Protection at Bekum
Protecting your personal data is an important concern for us. At Bekum, we take the responsible handling of personal information very seriously and place emphasis on transparency, security, and data processing in compliance with the law. On this page, we inform you about what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding your data.
(1) The following provides information about the collection of personal data when using our website. Personal data refers to any data that can be related to you personally, such as your name, address, email addresses, or user behavior. For definitions of the terms used in this statement, please refer to Article 4 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
(2) The controller pursuant to Article 4(7) GDPR is Bekum Maschinenfabriken GmbH, Kitzingstraße 15/19, 12277 Berlin (see our legal notice). You can contact our data protection officer at info@bekum.com or by post at the address above.
(3) If we engage commissioned service providers for individual functions of our offering or wish to use your data for advertising purposes, we will inform you in detail below about the respective processes. In doing so, we will also specify the defined criteria for the duration of data storage.
(1) You have the following rights with regard to your personal data processed by us:
-
The right to access and to obtain confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you is being processed, as well as further information and a copy of the data (Article 15 GDPR),
-
The right to rectification, completion, or erasure of your data (Articles 16–17 GDPR),
-
The right to restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR),
-
The right to data portability (Article 20 GDPR),

-
The right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority (Article 77 GDPR).
(2) Data processed by us will be deleted or their processing restricted in accordance with Articles 17 and 18 GDPR. Unless explicitly stated otherwise in this privacy policy, stored data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for its intended purpose and provided that no statutory retention obligations prevent deletion. If the data is required for other legally permissible purposes (e.g., for commercial or tax-related reasons), its processing will be restricted—meaning the data will be blocked and not processed for any other purposes. For information on the deletion of data not stored by us, please refer to the respective service or offering.
(1) When using our website purely for informational purposes—meaning you do not register or otherwise transmit information to us—we only collect the personal data that your browser sends to our server or to the server hosting this service (so-called server log files). If you wish to view our website, we collect the following data, which is technically necessary for us to display the website and to ensure its stability and security:
-
IP address,
-
Date and time of the request,
-
Time zone difference from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT),
-
Content of the request (specific page),
-

-
Amount of data transferred in each case,
-
Notification of successful retrieval,

The legal basis for this is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The storage of anonymous server log file data is carried out separately from any personal data you may provide.
(2) Log file information is stored for security reasons for a maximum of 7 days and then deleted. Data that needs to be retained for evidence purposes will not be deleted until the incident in question has been fully resolved.
(3) In addition to the aforementioned data, cookies are stored on your device when you use our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive and associated with the browser you are using. They allow certain information to be sent to the entity that set the cookie (in this case, us). Cookies cannot execute programs or transmit viruses to your computer. Their purpose is to make our website more user-friendly and efficient overall.
(4) Use of cookies:
a) This website uses the following types of cookies, the scope and functionality of which are explained below:
-
Transient cookies (see b), and
-
Persistent cookies (see c).
b) Transient cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. These include session cookies in particular. They store a so-called session ID, which allows various requests from your browser to be assigned to the same session. This enables your device to be recognized when you return to our website. Session cookies are deleted when you log out or close your browser.
c) Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a specified period, which can vary depending on the cookie. You can delete cookies at any time in your browser's security settings.
d) You can configure your browser settings according to your preferences, for example, to reject third-party cookies or all cookies. Please note that you may not be able to use all the features of this website if you do so.
e) We use cookies to recognize you on future visits if you have an account with us. Otherwise, you would need to log in again for each visit.
(1) In addition to the purely informational use of our website, we offer various services that you may choose to use if interested. In most cases, this will require you to provide additional personal data, which we use to deliver the respective service. The principles of data processing outlined above apply to this data as well.
(2) In some cases, we use external service providers to process your data. These providers have been carefully selected and commissioned by us, are bound by our instructions, and are regularly monitored.
(3) We may also share your personal data with third parties if we offer contracts or similar services jointly with partners. You will receive further details on this when providing your personal data or in the description of the respective service below.
(4) If any of our service providers or partners are located in a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we will inform you of the implications of this circumstance in the respective service description.
(1) If you have given your consent to the processing of your data, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future, pursuant to Article 7(3) GDPR. Such a withdrawal will affect the lawfulness of the processing of your personal data after you have communicated it to us.
(2) Where we base the processing of your personal data on a balancing of interests, you may object to the processing, pursuant to Article 21 GDPR. This also applies to any profiling based on those provisions. This is the case in particular if the processing is not necessary for the performance of a contract with you, as we will outline in the respective descriptions of our services. If you lodge an objection, we ask that you provide reasons why we should not process your personal data as we have been doing. In the event of a justified objection, we will examine the situation and either cease or adjust the data processing accordingly, or demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for continuing the processing.
(3) Of course, you may object to the processing of your personal data for purposes of advertising and data analysis at any time. You also have the right, for reasons arising from your particular situation, to object to the processing of your personal data for scientific or historical research purposes or for statistical purposes under Article 89(1) GDPR, unless the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest.
You may submit your objection to us via email at datenschutz@bekum.com or using the contact details provided in our legal notice.
(1) With your consent, you can subscribe to our newsletter, which we use to inform you about our current and relevant offers. The products and services being promoted are specified in the declaration of consent.
(2) We use a double opt-in procedure for newsletter registration. This means that after you sign up, we will send an email to the address you provided asking you to confirm that you wish to receive the newsletter. If you do not confirm your registration within 7 days, your information will be blocked and automatically deleted after one month. We also store the IP addresses used and the times of registration and confirmation. This procedure is necessary in order to verify your registration and, if necessary, to investigate any possible misuse of your personal data.
(3) The only required information for sending the newsletter is your email address and name. Any additional information, marked as optional, is provided voluntarily and helps us associate you with a company (if applicable) and communicate with you in your preferred language. After your confirmation, we store your email address for the purpose of sending the newsletter. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. At the time of registration, we also store the IP address assigned by your internet service provider (ISP) and the date and time of registration. This is necessary in order to trace any potential misuse of your email address.
(4) You may withdraw your consent to receive the newsletter at any time and unsubscribe. You can do so by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every newsletter email, via this form on our website:
https://unsubscribe.newsletter2go.com/form.html?n2g=g67bqy9j-e382te4n-12kf&_ga=2.200543405.2025831998.1561012716-1791163065.1561012716,
by email to news@bekum.com,
or by contacting us via the details provided in our legal notice.
(5) Please note that we analyze your user behavior when sending the newsletter. For this analysis, the emails contain web beacons or tracking pixels—one-pixel image files that are stored on our website. We link the data mentioned in Section 3 and the web beacons with your email address and an individual ID. Links in the newsletter also contain this ID. The data thus collected is used to create a user profile to tailor the newsletter to your individual interests. We track when you read our newsletter, which links you click on, and deduce your personal interests from this behavior. This information may also be linked to actions you take on our website.
(6) You can opt out of this tracking at any time by clicking the special link provided in every email or by contacting us through any other channel. The information is stored for as long as you remain subscribed to the newsletter. After you unsubscribe, the data is stored solely in aggregated and anonymous form for statistical purposes. Tracking is not possible if you have disabled image display by default in your email program. In this case, the newsletter may not be displayed in full, and certain functions may not be available. If you manually allow images to be displayed, tracking will resume as described above.
(7) Our newsletters are sent using Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Str. 126, 10179 Berlin. The legal basis for processing your data is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can view Sendinblue's privacy policy here:

(1) Our website uses YouTube and Google Maps, both provided by Google Ireland Limited (“Google”), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. A detailed description of the specific Google services we use can be found in our comprehensive privacy policy. Integrating Google services enables Google to collect and process various types of information, including personal data. It is possible that Google may transfer this information to a server located in a third country.
The transfer of personal data to the USA depends on the nature of the data transmitted. As the data controller, we may transfer data to Google in the United States, where it may be further processed.
Currently, there is no adequacy decision pursuant to Article 45 of the GDPR. However, such transfers can be based on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). Google has committed to complying with SCCs for the transfer of personal data to third countries in accordance with Directive 95/46/EC. Further information on Standard Contractual Clauses can be found at:
We have no control over which data Google actually collects and processes. However, Google states that the following types of information may generally be collected and processed:
-
Log data (particularly IP address)
-
Location data
-
Unique application numbers
-
Cookies and similar technologies
More detailed information about the types of cookies used by Google can be found here:
https://policies.google.com/technologies/types
If you are logged into your Google account, Google may associate the processed data with your account depending on your account settings. According to Google’s privacy statement (https://privacy.google.com/take-control.html), you can prevent this association by logging out of your Google account or adjusting your account settings. You can also change your cookie settings (e.g., delete or block cookies). For more on this, see Section 2(4) – Use of Cookies.
Further information is available in Google’s privacy policy, which you can view here:

(2) Integration of YouTube
Our website embeds videos and plugins from YouTube, a service provided by YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, which is a subsidiary of Google Ireland Limited.
The integration of YouTube takes place via an embedded “iFrame” on our website. When the iFrame loads, YouTube or Google may collect and process information, including personal data. It cannot be ruled out that YouTube or Google will transfer this data to a server located in a third country.
By integrating YouTube, we allow you to view various videos directly on our website. The legal basis for this data processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the substantial benefits offered by YouTube. Embedding external videos helps reduce the load on our own servers, allowing us to use those resources elsewhere—for example, to improve overall server stability. YouTube and Google also have a legitimate interest in collecting data to enhance their services.
(3) Integration of Google Maps
Our website integrates map content from Google Maps, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited.
Google Maps is also embedded using an “iFrame”. When the iFrame loads, Google may collect and process information, including personal data. It cannot be ruled out that this information will be transferred to a server in a third country.
The integration of Google Maps provides a user-friendly map feature, allowing you to easily find our locations and calculate directions if needed. The legal basis for this data processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in enhancing the functionality and user experience of our website. Google also has a legitimate interest in the collected data to improve and tailor its services.
(1) This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). The purpose of using this tool is to analyze user interactions on websites and apps in order to improve our offerings and make them more interesting for you as a user based on the resulting statistics and reports.
(2) We primarily collect data on interactions between you as a website user and our website using cookies, device/browser information, IP addresses, and website or app activities. Google Analytics also collects your IP address to ensure the security of the service and to provide us, as the website operator, with geographic insights into the origin of our users (so-called “IP geolocation”). To protect your privacy, we use the IP anonymization feature (“IP masking”), which shortens IP addresses within the EU/EEA by removing the last octet.
(3) Google acts as a data processor, and we have concluded a data processing agreement with Google. The information generated by cookies and the (usually shortened) IP addresses regarding your use of this website are typically transferred to a Google server in the USA and processed there. According to Google, the company applies a standard similar to the former EU-U.S. Privacy Shield and has committed to complying with applicable data protection laws for international data transfers. In addition, we have agreed to Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with Google, aimed at ensuring an adequate level of data protection in third countries.
(4) The legal basis for the collection and further processing of the data (which is retained for a maximum of 14 months) is your explicit consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. In mobile apps, you can reset your advertising ID via your Android or iOS settings. The easiest way to withdraw your consent is via our consent manager or by installing the Google browser add-on available here:

Such data may be stored and analyzed by Getty Images.

Applicants may submit unsolicited applications to us via email or by using the contact form integrated into our website. Applicant data is processed for the purpose of handling the application procedure.
If an employment contract is concluded with an applicant, the transmitted data will be stored in compliance with legal requirements for the purpose of managing the employment relationship.
If no employment contract is concluded, the application documents will be deleted two months after notification of the rejection decision, provided there are no legitimate interests preventing deletion—for example, the need to retain data as evidence in a case under the German General Equal Treatment Act (AGG).
